About Peak Physiotherapy in Dover

About

Peak Physiotherapy

After 14 years honing my skills in the NHS, private sector and with various sports teams, I am thrilled to be opening a brand new physiotherapy practice in Dover. A fully equipped clinic and a passion for providing exceptional care, my clinic aims to serve the community of Dover and its surrounding areas.

My goal is simple: to empower individuals to reclaim their peak physical health through Recovery – Rehabilitation – Results.

We can Help

Don't Put Up with Pain

My expertise encompasses a range of specialties, including post-operative rehabilitation, addressing sports injuries, delivering tailored strength and conditioning training programmes and sports massage. I have a proven track record in effectively managing back and neck pain while specialising in lower limb rehabilitation. I can also assist with regaining muscle strength and mobility following illness or lengthy hospital stays, providing physiotherapy in your own home or place of care if necessary.

My approach integrates manual therapy techniques, tailored exercise prescription and evidence based treatments, reflecting a deep understanding of the intricate needs of each individual under my care.

Radial pressure wave / shockwave therapy uses high energy acoustic (sound) waves to treat bone and soft tissue injuries. Energy is directed at the painful / injured tissues and can help reduce muscle pain and promote healing without surgery or medication.

RPW therapy has been shown to safely and effectively reduce tendon pain, improving function and enabling patients to do rehabilitative exercise with less pain, and get better quicker.

It has been shown to improve pain in various musculoskeletal conditions(1-8) including:

  • Achilles tendon pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Gluteal tendinopathy
  • Hip / knee / shoulder pain

A £10 surcharge applies for self-paying follow up appointments utilising shockwave.

  • Joint mobilisations – to increase range of movement and modify pain

Reviews for Peak Physiotherapy

Jo is an excellent physio. I was referred by my surgeon following Tendo Achilles surgery. Jo treats you as an individual and meets your needs in the moment, instead of just following a schedule. She explains the journey and keeps you on track being attentive to both your physical and physiological needs. Thanks for your support and guidance Jo, wouldn’t be able to do this without you!

Common Questions

Please see below some questions that may help you prepare for your physiotherapy appointment. This will depend on the problem and is often different for each individual. I don’t subscribe to block booking physiotherapy appointments as some people only require 1 or 2 sessions, others may require many more to reach their goal. We will make that decision together based on what we find and how you are progressing.

Please wear loose and comfortable clothing which can expose the area to be treated, for example shorts for feet / knees, a vest for shoulder / elbow. It may be necessary to undress to your underwear on either the top or bottom, for a hip or spine problem for example, so please wear something you will feel comfortable in.

I will need to thoroughly assess your issue and this may involve asking you to perform certain movements or tests to help ascertain what is going on which may be uncomfortable at times. Sometimes you may experience some soreness as a result of assessment and/or treatment, however physiotherapy should never be painful. It is my job to find ways to help you move / strengthen / function with LESS pain, so you can rest assured that I will tailor the session depending on how sensitive or irritable your issue is to avoid you being in more pain.
